Compress images to the size you need

Compress a JPEG, PNG or WebP to your chosen file size. Preview the exact size and dimensions before downloading.

A smaller file, ready to upload

Choose a maximum size in KB. The editor adjusts JPEG or WebP quality and, with your permission, dimensions. You see the actual file size and whether it meets your limit.

Check the file size, dimensions and appearance before saving.

A practical example

For a form with a 200 KB limit, select 200 KB, keep JPEG output and apply. Check the “Fits limit” result before downloading. KB here means 1,000 bytes, so a 200 KB result stays within a 200,000-byte limit.

Common questions

Why does a form reject my image even when it is below the KB limit?

File size is only one requirement. Check the form’s accepted formats, pixel dimensions and crop ratio, then compare them with the downloaded result. Select the new downloaded file when retrying; your original is unchanged. A JPEG is not accepted by every form, and renaming a file extension does not convert its format.

How can I reduce file size without changing width and height?

Turn off Allow smaller dimensions and leave Optional maximum dimensions empty. Choose an output format the form accepts, then apply and check both the dimensions and the Fits limit result. If quality adjustment cannot meet the limit, the editor reports that failure. Use a different source image or reduce dimensions only if the form allows it.

What does a 200 KB upload limit mean here?

The tool treats 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so 200 KB means at most 200,000 bytes. The displayed KB size is rounded; the Fits limit check uses the actual file bytes. If a form asks for strictly less than 200 KB, choose a slightly smaller target such as 199 KB. Meeting the size limit does not guarantee that the form accepts the format or dimensions.

Can I compress an image to 20, 50, 100 or 200 KB?

Choose a preset or enter your own limit. Some combinations of fixed dimensions, quality and very small limits cannot be met. The editor reports the actual result instead of hiding a failure.

Will compression reduce quality?

JPEG and WebP compression may reduce visible detail. The editor looks for the highest quality within your limit. Compare the previews; allow smaller dimensions only when that trade-off suits your upload.

What happens to transparent images?

WebP and PNG preserve transparency. JPEG replaces transparent pixels with the white or black background you select.

Each file is limited to 20 MB and 25 megapixels to keep processing practical on mobile devices. Browser encoding can change color profiles and quality. Check the preview and retain your original.
